Minor Council, Female Council and the Board of Directors have approved the seasonal structure of U9 hockey to align with Option 2 of the Hockey Canada U9 models.
This change will split the season between the half-ice model and use of full ice. The first half of the season operates within the half-ice model for learning and development and starting January 15th, teams will transition to full ice for the remainder of the season.
We believe this model provides a balanced approach to learning for our members in this 7 and 8 year old category.
An updated U9 policy will be shared with teams as the new season draws closer.
